The Year of St. Paul

Interactive stories, journey and more...

"I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” the Lord told him. Then He gave the trembling man instructions about how he was to begin the radically new life that lay ahead for him."

The Book of Acts tells how Jesus apprehended Paul on the road to Damascus and shows just how critical that event was to the Church's beginnings. This tireless convert, once a Church opponent, became what some call "the second founder of Christianity," after Christ himself.

In 2009, the 25th January falls on a Sunday and, thus, the Conversion of St Paul is not celebrated. This is despite the fact that the Pauline Year, declared by Pope Benedict to run from the 29th June 2008-29th June 2009, will miss out on this feast.
